The process

We get our oyster larvae from local hatcheries and grow them in a land based upweller until they are ready to go into bags. Once in bags, the oysters will get culled, sorted, and hand tumbled and put back into bigger sized bags. At their growing peak, they will be put into cages to finish growing out into market size. Being in the cages helps the oysters get tumbled naturally by the tides which give them that nice deep cup everyone’s raves over. This is how our company name evolved: Cage ‘Em Oyster Company.

We are certified by the Virginia Department of Shellfish Sanitation

(Shell Stock Shipper # VA 1718 SS) and our HACCP plan is approved, current, and up to date.
